Your first idea is wrong

My old self: "From one day to the next I oscillate between thinking that I have no good ideas and that I have too many good ideas"

My new self: Every time I've believed that, I was wrong. When I started 7 years ago I thought I had the best idea: AI for scientific discovery. But market or tech was not there yet. Then we pivoted several times: AI for education, an innovation marketplace, knowledge management SaaS, service... and now software plus service in the agentic buildcamp. Every time my idea had to evolve, I had to understand more deeply what my driver was, which parts of my idea was correct and which parts needed to change. I even had to change myself to be able to receive and form better ideas.

So, the expectation that the first idea will be good, or you have to wait until you find the "right idea".. these are all procrastinations and distractions. Unless you get really lucky, you launch with X, learn Y, and end up building Z. The market and tech shift, you shift with it. That's just the actual shape of the process.

The idea itself matters less than what you do with it and who you surround yourself with. As long as it's not drastically far from what you actually enjoy, you're either already a domain expert on it or willing to become one, and you can get there by connecting to the right people and proactively consuming the right information. That's quite backwards from how most of us actually spend our time now, passively scrolling and letting whatever shows up shape our thinking.

The sooner you find out what's wrong with your idea, the sooner you get to evolve it to the one that works.
